BRIC engaged Public Works Partners to design a comprehensive evaluation framework that could capture outcomes across its diverse program portfolio and equip the organization with the tools and insights to enhance program effectiveness, drive positive change, and solidify its role as a cultural enrichment and community engagement leader in Brooklyn.
The team began by cataloguing BRIC’s full program ecosystem, from youth education initiatives to the annual Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival, clarifying program goals, activities, and existing data collection practices. Building on that foundation, Public Works developed logic models across five program areas, Performing Arts, Production, Youth and Adult Education, Contemporary Arts, and Community Engagement, refining them through working sessions with staff and leadership. Finally, the team developed a series of practical assessment tools: participant journey maps to illustrate how individuals engage within and across programs, shared metrics to measure outcomes and cross-program collaboration, assessment tools such as a cross-program reporting tool, data collection procedures, and pre- and post-surveys. Public Works led a series of workshops to train BRIC staff on using these tools going forward.
By equipping staff with logic models, journey maps, shared metrics, and practical assessment tools, the framework strengthens organizational learning and gives BRIC a consistent way to track outcomes across even its most varied programs. Just as importantly, it positions BRIC to better support future funding opportunities and reinforces its standing as a cornerstone of cultural and media innovation in Brooklyn.
