One of Trenton’s core goals in developing this plan was to foster social opportunity and a vibrant economy through a robust set of strategies that would increase education levels and career trajectories among all of its residents, regardless of age or background. Public Works Partners was tasked with applying our unique blend of expertise in both stakeholder engagement and workforce development policy to create an education strategy that would meet this goal.
We first worked with local stakeholders – including the Mayor’s Office, school district, colleges, and Workforce Investment Board – to identify the challenges and opportunities facing the city’s residents as they strive to meet educational and career goals.
Our education strategy focused on three priority areas: pre-K through grade 12 education, workforce development, and personal enrichment. By identifying these initiatives, we developed an approach that will enhance access to learning opportunities for all Trenton residents, enabling the City’s residents to access short-term job opportunities while simultaneously being prepared to take advantage of new opportunities in an ever-shifting economy.
