Driving Workforce Transformation for All New Yorkers
Last month, Mayor Adams released the groundbreaking “Pathways to an Inclusive Economy,” a transformative blueprint to enhance career opportunities for all New Yorkers. Informed by the Future of Work Task Force, this blueprint outlined five strategies to reimagine NYC’s workforce development: private sector leadership, the creation of a Talent Investment Fund, the expansion of apprenticeships, solidified impact metrics, and strengthened employer engagement.
Public Works Partners CEO Celeste Frye served as an Advisor to the Task Force, providing insights and expertise on metrics and effective workforce funding. “I was honored to be a voice in the conversation,” said Celeste, “as I have spent my career building workforce development programs and policy: from within City government to the Career Pathways report that formed part of the foundation of this work to our work at Public Works Partners with government, philanthropy, and program providers to serve New Yorkers.” David Fischer, an Advisor at Public Works, served as a facilitator and contributed to the development of the blueprint. New Teammates to Advance Strategy for Good
Three new teammates joined Public Works Partners to help us build thriving communities and healthy organizations. Margaret Hanson, an Analyst on the Business Development team, will channel her writing skills and eye for design to develop compelling proposals and captivating marketing materials. She is a MUP graduate from Columbia University and previously held research and data analysis roles at Cities for Financial Empowerment (a Public Works client!), the Center for Active Design, and the NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services (also a client!). We are also excited to welcome our Project Coordinators, Andrew Nicolais and Aman Patel. Andrew is a Master of Public Health and Policy Management candidate at NYU’s Global School of Public Health, while Aman is pursuing his MPA at NYU’s Wagner School. Both Andrew and Aman will be supporting the Client Services team on capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and business relocation projects.

We are shining a spotlight on Bebe’s inspiring reflections on her time at Public Works Partners. After three years with the firm, she is heading west to University of California at Berkeley to pursue a master’s degree in urban planning. From proposal management to spearheading the launch of our new brand, Bebe shares her experience working on the Business Development team and how getting to see the interdisciplinary nature of Public Works’ practice shaped her interest in urban planning. Nonprofits Play a Crucial Role in P3s
“Nonprofit organizations are key to successful public-private partnerships,” says CEO Celeste Frye in her latest piece in Nonprofit Pro. Nonprofits looking to provide community services and benefits can work with government and private-sector entities as the third partner in a P3. When doing so, it is important to seek opportunities to leverage P3 projects to address community needs, foster mutual understanding with P3 partners, and stay vigilant against potential drawbacks.
