Ambar is a Manager in Public Works Partners’ Community Health practice, bringing over a decade of experience across the academic, advocacy, nonprofit, and consulting sectors.
Before joining Public Works Partners, Ambar served as a technical assistance liaison for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s inaugural Thriving Communities Program, partnering with city agencies and local organizations to design and implement solutions to transportation and environmental challenges. As a Lifelong Forefront Fellow, she helped New York City’s 1.4 million older adults age in place by stewarding community gardens and documenting their stories.
With deep expertise in active and multimodal transportation, Ambar has advanced climate action and public space design through multiple national fellowships, including serving as a Public Voices Fellow on Climate Change Communications with Yale and The Op-Ed Project. Previously, she directed LivableStreets’ Emerald Network, a bold vision to connect 250 miles of greenways across Metro Boston. Her work also contributed to the New York Botanical Garden Master Plan, which received the Honor Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects, New York Chapter.
Ambar is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology where she has a B.S. in History, Technology, & Society and a concentration in civil engineering. She also has a masters in oral history from Columbia University, the first program of its kind. Ambar is a bicycle instructor with the League of American Bicyclists and a proud Forefront Fellow Alumni of the Urban Design Forum.
