Develops proposals that highlight Public Works Partners’ value as both an urban planning and non-profit management consulting firm.

About Johnny Gross

As a Business Development Analyst, Johnny keeps his ear to the ground for exciting RFPs, crafting compelling proposals that showcase Public Works Partners’ unique strengths and vision. With Public Works continuing to grow its practice both within the Tri-State area and across the country, Johnny plays a role in the firm’s service and product development, new market expansion, outreach and external affairs, and marketing and communications.

Prior to joining the Public Works Partners, Johnny was a Los Angeles Coro Fellow in Public Affairs. He and a cohort of ten emerging leaders completed six short-term job placements with local nonprofit, private sector, government, and labor organizations. Notably, he produced a detailed landscape analysis of transit and mobility in San Diego County and evaluated affordable housing proposals in Los Angeles’s Chinatown. The fellowship included leadership training in the form of six, week-long conferences on topics such as transportation, housing & homelessness, and the creative economy. Johnny led the state governance conference in Sacramento, conducting discussions with state employees and presenting the group’s findings to local stakeholders.

In addition to his interest in city planning and public affairs, Johnny is passionate about education and language. As a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, he taught English  to 4th-6th graders. He has also taught 8th grade math at a Philadelphia summer program, ESL to adults in New Haven, and Introduction to Mandarin to youth and young adults with developmental differences in Cleveland.

A Chicago native, Johnny earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and an Advanced Chinese Language Certificate from Yale University, writing his thesis on the Jewish community of Harbin, China. In addition to Mandarin, Johnny has also studied Polish, Yiddish, Hebrew, and Taiwanese. He is excited to practice these languages and learn new ones in New York.
